Freedom from My Past

Freedom

Freedom – We live in a land that is known for it’s freedom. Even living in a land of freedom, we can still live a life without true freedom. That was my story. My life before Christ was a life of rebellion to everything that was right, a life of alcoholism, and a life of destructive decisions. I made a mess of every area of my life. Three words that could characterize my life before Jesus were failure, brokenness, and shame. (more…)

The Christmas Story: Fears, Impossibility, & Truth

Christmas Story

My Christmas Story The Christmas season is my favorite. I have so many wonderful memories and wonderful memories are still being made. While growing up, Christmas tree shopping was the most fun. We normally went Christmas tree shopping on Thanksgiving. For my family, Christmas tree shopping initiated the Christmas season. I remember running between trees looking for the perfect tree. I remember the smell of the pine. I remember the sound of the saw. The excitement registered even higher when our flighty Louisiana weather allowed a chill in the air. …

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Actions speak louder than words, is something I have always believed. Not that words are not important, but if the words and the actions don’t coincide and reveal the same thing, then the words seem pointless. Ashley White writes today’s devotional about how actions speak louder than words. I love her biblical insight and personal testimony about how actions speak louder than words to God too. (more…)

God-Sized Dreams: Too Big, Too Far

God-sized Dreams

God-sized dreams are birthed in believing Ephesians 3:20-21.   Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21   God-sized dreams are always too big and too far. (more…)

Christian Parenting: Powerful Heritage

Christian Parenting

Christian parenting is something I experienced since birth. I was born to Christian parents. I had the kind of life that most anyone would desire. My parents weren’t wealthy, but they were comfortable. They loved me and loved each other. I was protected and cared for. When my mama would take me to the pediatrician when I was little, she would tell him that I was spoiled rotten. He always replied, “She’s just loved.” I was. Yes, I was loved. And yes, I was spoiled rotten. (more…)

Seasons of Life

Seasons of life come and go. My husband and I are in a new season of life. We are grandparents. Our granddaughter is 5 months old and we take care of her at least one day a week. She usually spends one night a week with us as well. This gives her mom and dad a break and a full night of sleep. We get to delight in her adorable presence! We love this new season!   Thinking about different seasons of life: I was reminded of my mother’s …

Loyalty, Weakness, & Need

Loyalty

Loyalty can be defined as constant faithfulness or devotion. Loyalty can be seen in marriages, families, friendships, churches, jobs, schools, athletic programs, workout regimes… The list could keep going. Loyalty is a character quality I cherish in my personal relationships. Most people admire and esteem people in whom strong loyalty is exhibited in some area. So it is not so surprising that God is looking for loyalty in our hearts as well. (more…)
