Too many people live hopeless. In fact, hope is a precious and rare treasure in the world today. I see people living without hope in so many ways. The darkness of this world and sometimes our own difficult situations impact our belief system. The spiritual enemy of our soul uses the circumstances of this world and of our own life to deceive us and lures us to place our hope in things that will fail us. I believe when we place hope in anything other than Jesus alone, we eventually will find ourselves in a hopeless state. So dear one, if you belong to Jesus, I have good news for you!
You are not hopeless!
A believer in Christ, we may face situations that appear hopeless. However, our faith is not in appearances and what we see.
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
1 John 5:4
Whatever situation you are facing and believe is hopeless… with all the love my body and heart can contain, I must tell you that you have believed a lie. In Christ, we should never be hopeless or without hope. So often I find when someone has come to a place of hopelessness, the problem lies with their focus. Try to think outside of yourself for a moment and think about someone who you know who is hopeless, feels hopeless, or believes they are in a hopeless situation.
Now think about a conversation with them about their situation.
- What do they talk about?
- How do they express what they feel?
- What words are coming out of their mouth about their situation?
Our words express our true beliefs. In fact, the Bible tells us that our words reveal what is truly in our heart.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil.
For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Please don’t mistaken my passion for truth as condemnation or a lack of compassion. I assure you it is neither. I understand that life hurts and brings us hardships that feel and seem insurmountable at times. We all faces seasons of crisis and usually those crises present us with a faith challenge. However, I believe that Jesus and the truth of God’s word is the answer to every hopeless situation. Our victory is found in Jesus who is the Word of God.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
Hopelessness is not a trait for a believer in Christ, but rather, VICTORY!
Are you struggling to find hope in light of dire circumstances? Have you placed hope in something this world offers and found it only left you more hopeless? Is someone you love desperately in need of hope? Find your hope and sustenance in and through the Word of God. Combat the lie of your spiritual enemy with the truth of God’s word. Put on your armor (Ephesians 6:11-17) and pick up your sword!
Because…A Specified Word of Hope Defeats What Appears Hopeless
Ephesians 6:17 says that the sword of the Spirit is the word of God. The original Greek language term used for word is not logos (the whole or entirety of God’s word) as I assumed, but rhema. Rhema speaks of a specific word, a word that is specified for a specific thing.
I have made a list of 25 Psalms of Hope. Download the list now. Print it out and use these Scripture verses as the specified word of God over any areas of hopelessness trying to creep in and take over in your mind or life. Pray them. Believe them. Meditate on them. Treasure and trust in them to defeat your spiritual enemy and watch Hopeless walk out the door of your life.
