The Hard Discovery That Life Is Not All About Me

All About Me

When I was a little girl, life was all about me. I was an only child living at home. My siblings were all much older and already out of my parent’s house. The good part of this was I was the center of all their attention, even the siblings. There was no sibling rivalry. I was the baby princess. Not a bad life to have and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.   I remember going to the pediatrician. My doctor would ask how I was doing and my …

Taking Responsibility And The Victim Mentality

Confident young brunette with arms crossed and her jealous opponent in the background

The “victim” label dangled around her neck and she was oblivious to it. She was always the victim and someone else was to blame. I could argue with her no more. Regardless what I said, my friend was not taking responsibility for her actions. She viewed everything I did or didn’t through self-pity and it tarnished her view.   If I didn’t text her back immediately, then I must be mad. If I didn’t answer the phone, then I was ignoring her. Before we made it to our next stop, we received a notification that someone was trying to use the same card number in the Dominican Republic. The transactions were seventeen minutes apart and the locations were …

wise woman

A wise woman from God’s perspective: If you have been following along with this blog series, you know we normally discuss a woman from scripture who might struggle with the labels we are addressing. I have searched for a while to find a woman who struggled with the “not smart enough” label, and I haven’t found one I feel confident enough to write about. When thinking about this and searching scripture I found that Scripture definitely talks about the unwise woman. The wise and unwise woman was described in Proverbs …

5 Truths to Removing the Not Smart Enough Label

Not Smart Enough

Stupid and the Not Smart Enough Label Margaret constantly called herself “stupid.” She proclaimed she was not smart enough to make good decisions, handle pressure, say the correct things in public, ace a test, fix a small problem, be a good friend, and on and on. Her long belief of this lie constantly flowed off her tongue and it made me crazy.   She had labeled herself not smart enough and let everyone know she was “stupid”. If I heard her say “I am stupid” once, I heard her say …

Believing You Are Smart Enough To Grow In Wisdom

Women have always longed for wisdom. How do I know? Look at Eve in Genesis 3:6. She was lured in to a death trap because she longed to be wise.   So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Genesis 3:6   Isn’t it interesting that the first time we see anything mentioned …
